Testing Writely

Testing Writely

I’m into the “online os” thing, google spreadsheets is cool, and when I saw this post about writely being open again I just had to take a look ! Writely is an on line word processor, with a bit of “value add” for example you can use anyones computer to get to your documents, and you don’t need any software to run it, you can share documents with people, and the cream of the crop you can draft your blog posts too ! - Yep you’ve guessed it what do you think I’m using to write this ! ;-)

How to Exploit MS06-040

It would have been irresponsible of me to write this any earlier, but a few days of past and hopefully the majority have installed the appropiate patch or at the very least are running personal/perimeter firewalls until they complete their change control.

Many may have seen e-mail alerts and news articles that say exploit in the wild and may not appreciate what this actually means. You hear people say “It’ll never happen to me” or “it’s only geeky Linux kids who can do this, my business isn’t at risk”; OK but do you know actually how easy it is ?

Yum Fun !

This has been on my to do list for a while… I have finally converted my little reporsitory of rpm’s into a proper yum repo !

The old xfce repo has been mergered into a new Whitebox repo, which in fact can be used for CentOS, WBEL or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

A new fedora repo exists as well, those with a keen eye will see new rpm sections for FC5 64_86 (my new pc!).

All packages will be signed with my gpg key, and config files can be found here:

Nokia starts tests of Wi-Fi Internet mobile calls

Nokia starts tests of Wi-Fi Internet mobile calls | Reuters.com
Nokia, the world’s largest cellphone maker, has started its first tests of a technology that allows users to roam seamlessly between phone networks and local wireless hotspots such as Wi-Fi.

As VoIP becomes more & more well know to Joe Public it’s good to see that Nokia move forward with perhaps the most useful implementation, if the system can work bi-directionally, i.e. if you are within Wi-Fi range and incoming calls route over said connection than this can only have good implications for signal/call quality as well as cost savings for out going calls.
