seemed to be more to do than normal and I forgot to schedule some
seasons greetings on the 25/12 & 01/01 so my apologies. I've acquired
extra time-sinks, I'm now a MAC Fanboy as I've brought a shiny new
toy (expect mac
related posts) :D . My Cisco
Certification is due for renewal so I really really should study and I
have "Project
R" which is
a weekend project ... basically a website for a friend.... oh and thanks
to all the recent snow
around here the car really
needs a clean!

So, I should get on, get organised and be grateful that this
time-sinkhelps organise my thoughts.

Xmind Performance Issues?

If you're having performance problems with my mind

webpage for sony's ps3; I'm sure the developers are fed of of people
asking for in game access to music or the web browser so it's hidden
away somewhere, but I think I have some genuine fresh ideas.... maybe?

Dynamic Bookmarks from Avahi / Bonjour / ZeroConf
I don't have a keyboard for my PS3 the reason for this is that I have a
PC/Laptop, in the event I want to do some heavy browsing my 1st thought
won't be to use my PlayStation, this being said, I do occasionally use
the PS3 to check specific websites; when I download content from the
PlayStation Store I have a tendency to log into my
cacti install and check on my bandwidth usage,
typing http://192.168.168.168/cacti into my bookmarks was a real pain
via the on-screen keyboard, but if the PS3 could have learned this from
network that would have been really cool. Direct Access to my bookmarks
from the XMB would be nice too.

UPNP Media Servers & the XMB need a re-think
My mediatomb server shares out my "media"
directory, in that directory I have all of my A/V content. The thing is
to switch between watching my latest family video and viewing pictures
of the fireworks last week rather than just playing "any" content
available in the directory, I have to scroll all the way back to the
start of the XMB change from video to picture and then dive all the way
back through my directory structure, perhaps something like
\~/media/family/events/5Nov09/..... this can become quite tiresome.
My Solution would to make media servers an extra top level XMB entry
which appears when a server is found, thus allowing users to directly
drill through any content.

If anyone happens to stumble across this page and knows where I should
submit my ideas feel free to leave a comment.

LINICKX Gallery back online

It seems like ages since I started friggin about with
linickx.com.

The basic deal is I wanted to completely re-design my website, in doing
this I also wanted to simplify the up-keep/maintenance of it too, this
resulted in me moving from galleryto
WP's internal
gallery, i.e.
when it came to patching and upgrading, one less thing to worry about.
The downside of this maneuver has been my image gallery had to be
manually imported into wordpress, and then every post with an image had
to be found and updated, well I think I'm finally there!

Hopefully just a few little design tweaks to the theme left, and
linickx.com v3 will be complete :)

Another Dropbox Link

After reading this from Ma.tt, I've
downloaded dropbox, I've had it installed
for less than an hour, but I figure they're worth a post purely for the
kudos of releasing a true multi-platform application.

Finding something that can sync between my home linux box and work
windohs machine is a real pain so I'm really hoping this will be the
answer I've been looking for; it's not that win-linux sync'ing is
impossible, it's just that it's usually restrictive or so complicated/
un-user-friendly that I never bother.

The only thing the service needs is some WordPress to "public box"
integration and the solution is dam'ed near perfect ;)

While I to keep my fingers crossed that dropbox is everything I want it
to be, why don't you try it out?

How to delete an Access-List on a Cisco ASA

Why can't I remember this command?

not worth the paper it's printed on; so I admire anyone who's native
tongue isn't english yet speak/reads/writes english.

Comments on my blog pose a problem, a tell tale sign of an e-mail or
comment spam is poor english, now I'm not talking about having 100%
correct grammar or spelling, in-fact this post title "good english
comments" isn't correct! What I'm talking about is comments that simply
don't make sense.

Recently I've been working with a guy from Brazil, he's not the 1st I've
met, but this was obviously his 1st trip to the UK. During our work it
was very apparent that half of what he said/wrote didn't make sense and
in order to carry out his work I've had to guess at a load of the
requirements.

Today I've received a comment on my blog which I simply can't decide if
it's someone with poor English skills or SPAM, there's no hyper-links
which leans me toward it being genuine, but I simply don't want to take
the risk, I haven't even finished repairing the pictures on my site, let
alone have the time to clean up after some inter-twat spammer! I would
like to thank both akismet & bad behavior for all their help with
detecting spam.... I wonder if there's some kind of grammar checker for
comments to help the real people submit comments that make sense?

So with all being said, I send my apologies to all who have had comments
deleted on my blog.

Thieves Don't like CiscoPress!

As it's late, and I'm bored waiting for a customer call back, I thought
I'd write about something both amusing & irritating. Recently I
purchased a copy of Network Security Technologies &
Solutions
from Amazon, as I'm in no hurry I opted for the free royal mail delivery
option. When I got home I found the Amazon box on my door-step and
surprising the the box was open!!!

You hear about things going lost in the mail regularly and I can only
presume that someone responsible for sorting the parcel spotted a rather
heavy box from Amazon and thought it must be some expensive gadget, how
disappointed they must have been to see that it was a dull old Cisco
book

Having to do some real work....

Ok, so I've moved jobs, the first thing that's massively different is
that I can't use Linux :'( - the new place has load of custom fat
client windows apps (help-desk & crm) so I can't dump windows.

Now this post isn't a Linux vs windows rant, more, a note about how it's
effecting me. To start with, I've been using
evolution for so long that
I've actually forgotten how to use outlook !!!!!! Other stuff is IM &
RSS readers, I'm using thunderbird because I can't find a suitable
replacement for lifera , and MSN it's
got adverts all over it, back to gaim I think !

What's most noticeable about going back to windows is that I'm working
more, using Linux at work seemed to distract me, because I have my web
development stuff on my machine, and RSS feed me with cool Linux things
to check out I was never 'bored'.... notice how nothings changed on
this site for a while ?

At least I can find solitude at home, fedora core 5 is out in a month,
and I'm really looking forward to putting my new amd64 thru' it's paces,
and for the time being the dell laptop work have given me can stay
windows; although thinking aloud I might have enough RAM to run vmware
player so I could move the windows stuff to that, although if I end up
using the vmWindows more it's kind a pointless running Linux.

Ho-hum, one good thing of using windows is that I can compare google
desktop to
beagle !
