UPDATE: This Plugin has been updated, please see the new post, comments here are now closed.
A long time ago Sc0ttClark came to me and suggested that his cookie subdomains plug-in & my cookie path plug-in should be merged…. well I’ve finally done it!
There was a little delay in the release as the initial code only worked for top level .com, .net & .org style domains but a simple “manual” option in the admin screen now allows you to set the domain name, so longer domains like .co.uk can be supported!
All previous functionality is supported, just by enabling the plug-in the path is stripped out you only need to go into the admin page if you want to change the subdomain of the cookie.
The admin page now has a “News & Tutorials” feed (subscribe) my plan is to post articles on how to use root-cookie.
You can download the plugin from wordpress.org, and there is a discussion forum to get community support.
hi, i login from subdomain and then i return to main domain and try to site management wp displaying login page, i can’t login directly site management. when i login from main domain subdomain site management is okay. how can i fix it. thanks
I am usig your plugin. I think that there is some incompatibility between the latest WP 3.0 & the plugin. Cookies do not seem to get wiped properly after logout. As a result, the user is unable to logout. Is there a fix to this problem ?
Thanks P, you’re the first to raise this I’ll take a look.
Cheers,
Nick
I have installed plugin only in http://www.mydomain.com/ and copied user login tables to wp install
http://test.mydomain.com/. Both have the same Security Keys. but its not working. I’m on both WP 3.0 installs…
Hi Niju… have you read this? -> http://techblog.touchbasic.com/html/single-unified-login-for-multiple-wordpress-2-8-installs-in-subdirectories-using-cookies/

I have this scenario:
I have a site (siteA.com) and a wordpress (siteB.com). In siteA.com users can register and each time one is registered it adds the same user (using curl) on siteB.com (wordpress).
I need that when a user is logged in siteA.com it is automatically logged in siteB.com. They have different databases and domains. Is this possible? How ?
Hello,
Browser security will stop you doing this… siteA.com cannot see cookies for siteB.com… the only away to achieve what you want is by using siteA.domain.com & siteB.domain.com.
Great plugin, but any chance of an update to be compatible with WP 3.2.1?
Thanks!
Hello Ian,
I’ve not heard from anyone of 1.5 not working on WP 3.2.1 but the development version has been tested on WP 3.1.3 which I have just tested on WP 3.2.1 and all looks good to me
Kind Regards,
Nick
